Vietnamese Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Long has just said that in July 2021, Vietnam will receive about 8 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Mr. Long said that in the vaccine supply roadmap, Vietnam has signed contract agreements in 2021 for 105 million doses.

However, due to the scarcity of supply at this time, the peak of the vaccine rush to Vietnam will be in the fourth quarter of 2021.

It is expected that in July 2021, about 8 million doses of vaccine will arrive in Vietnam.

Community immunity

Previously, on July 1, Mr. Long said that about 30 million doses of vaccine would be supplied to Vietnam in the third quarter of 2021.

Mr. Long spoke at the meeting of the Steering Committee to deploy the Covid-19 vaccination campaign in 2021-022 taking place on the morning of July 2.

We will try to vaccinate all the people from now until the end of the year, or maybe early 2022. The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a goal to achieve herd immunity by 2023, Vietnam has given the target is late 2021, early 2022. This is a huge requirement while other countries are in 2022 and early 2023,” said the Minister of Health.

Mr. Long reminded that it is necessary to build a website on Covid-9 vaccination in which “all information related to the whole vaccination activity is publicized.”

According to the plan, the vaccination campaign will be carried out at 19,000 injection points, of which the most basic foundations are commune and ward health stations, mobile injection points, and medical facilities.

Health facilities nationwide will have to conduct screening and pre-classify all subjects who are expected to be vaccinated from 18 years of age or older to classify which cases are vaccinated at commune health stations and which need must be injected at a medical facility with a hospital bed, in any case, injected at a mobile injection point.

I suggest that localities in July 2021 must complete screening on this scale,” Minister Long said at the meeting.
